"We Want Clean Food"
Guided by these words, Ric Orlando brings an inspired blend of lust for life, irreverent humor, and nationally renowned cooking prowess to his roles as chef, lecturer, author and Public Television Cooking show host. His recipes and commentary are consistently in national demand.
Ric bridges the gap between the restaurant and health food worlds by defining his culinary style at Global Heritage Cooking. He understands of what makes traditional foods both nourishing and satisfying and translates it all brilliantly into exciting, contemporary cuisine. He brings culinary flair to such concepts as sustainable seafood, free-range grazing, isoflavones, and antioxidants, while making the learning experience fun and accessible.
A man with a colorful past, Ric's cultural roots stem from the late 1970's through 1980's in New York, New Haven and Boston. Orlando has been a punk rocker, a fashion model, a poet, a music video producer, and now an accomplished chef. He is the executive chef and creative force behind the Hudson Valley landmark restaurant the New World Home Cooking Co. Orlando gathered his experience at groundbreaking restaurants such as the legendary Elm City Diner in New Haven, (the original) Harvest in Cambridge, Massachusetts, The Wild Goose in Boston, Sugar Reef in Manhattan and Yates Street and Justin's in Albany. He has cooked in the kitchens of some of the most widely respected chefs in America including Bob Kinkead, Jake Jabobus and Emmett Fox.
