 His recipes and commentary are consistently in demand by the regional media. His tireless work in promoting the products, people, and beauty of the Hudson Valley and Capital Region of NY combined with his quirky sense of humor and rock and roll pedigree has made him one of the Hudson Valley’s leading culinary spokespeople and best foodie draws for events, fundraisers and festivals.
Ric has appeared on the national stage most recently in November 2015, defeating Bobby Flay on the hit Food Network series BEAT BOBBY FLAY. His Luscious Latkes were just to much for Bobby to handle!  
In the 2013 WORLD FOOD CHAMPIONSHIPS, Next Top Product Category. His Eggplant “Meatballs” won the top prize for the Northeast region.
In 2010,  Ric appeared on the Food Network’s runaway hit CHOPPED three times, winning in his first appearance “Wok This Way”. Judge Mark Murphy declared that Ric’s Rum-Raisin Jerk Quail was the “Best thing I have eaten on Chopped!” He was then selected to appear in he very first CHOPPED CHAMPIONS where he also won in the playoff round, wowing the judges in the dessert round with his humorously innovative concoction- Ziggy Taco and the Pear Filling from Mars.
Ric also wrote and starred in the 13 episode regional Public Television series RIC ORLANDO'S TV KITCHEN.  
He has also appeared over a dozen times on the NBC TODAY SHOW, and has appeared often on PBS, NPR, Discovery, Sirius Radio, as well as scores of regional media appearances.
In 2015 Ric was a headline celebrity chef at the Saratoga Food and Wine Festival and The Hudson Valley Garlic Festival.  Some of Ric’s many other public appearances for  include being the keynote chef for high profile events including the 2014 International Wine Masters’ Wine and Food Festival,  2013 “Hudson Valley in the Big Apple” at the James Beard House in NYC,  the 2012 Martha’s Vineyard Food and Wine Fest, The Cooking School of Aspen, The Chef and Vintner’s Harvest Dinner for the Regional Food bank of North East NY, Hudson Valley Food and Wine Festival and the Hudson Valley Harvest at Mohonk Mountain House.
Ric and the New World brands are perennial Best of Winners in their markets.  Ric has won BEST CHEF in Albany Times union Readers Poll for 2015 AND Hudson Valley Magazine’s reader’s poll for 2014 AND 2015.  Just for fun, the Albany Times Union in February 2014 named Ric the Capital Region’s Sexiest Chef.   
Ric oversees the kitchens of two restaurants. New World Home Cooking Co. which he owns with his wife Liz Corrado, is a Hudson Valley community icon with 22 years in continuous operation. New World Bistro Bar, the Albany Gastro-Pub he designed and manages, is a consistently local BEST OF winner. Ric’s restaurants have won numerous accolades including BEST RESTAURANT, MOST BELOVED RESTAURANT, BEST GLUTEN FREE, RESTAURANT MOST WORTH TAKING A DRIVE TO, BEST AMERICAN, BEST INTERNATIONAL, BEST BRUNCH, TOP 3 VEGETARIAN. Ric’s Northeast Family Farm Burger Deluxe the award for Best Burger in the Capital Region for 2011. New World Bistro Bar has been voted Best American Restaurant for 7 straight years in the Albany Newsweekly Metroland.

A man with a colorful past, Ric's cultural roots stem from the underground music and art scene through 1980s in New York, New Haven, and Boston where he also gathered his passion for Global flavors eating urban ethnic cheap eats. Before doing his own thing, he developed in his culinary experience at groundbreaking restaurants such as the Elm City in New Haven, Harvest in Cambridge, Massachusetts, The Wild Goose in Boston, Sugar Reef in Manhattan, and Yates Street and Justin's in Albany.
